Death Ball Swords and Grading
Packs, grades, and weapon cosmetics — what actually changes your matches.
Swords in Death Ball are one of the most searched progression systems after codes and champions. Players open boss packs, seasonal packs, and shop pulls chasing rare blades, then push those weapons through Grading toward Grade A, A+, and S. This guide explains what swords do, how grading risk works, and why a Mythic S-grade sword still loses if your deflect timing is late.
Small World Games treats most swords as visual and collection progression. Deflect windows, ranked MMR, and champion kits matter more than the blade skin on your hip. Still, grading raises trade value, unlocks auras, and — for some Mythic S weapons — unique poses. If you farm packs for Koju or Torokai exclusives, pair this page with Boss Raids.
Where swords come from
Boss and seasonal packs
Raid bosses drop fragments, gears, or pack currency you spend on themed boxes. Recent pack waves include fatality- and sinister-style seasonal lines with Common through Mythical swords, auras, and finishers. Private-server creators often showcase new packs the same day they ship — useful for rarity previews, not for guaranteed pulls.
Shop and code economy
Gems and Crystals from the Codes Hub accelerate shop pulls and grading costs. High-value August 2026 strings like VELVET, ROYAL, ASCEND, and PETAL refill the wallet you burn on grading attempts. Track redemptions with the Code Checklist before you spend banked Gems on a risky S push.
Champion-tied weapons
Some fighters ship with signature blades — for example Torokai’s Impaler from Mech Pack content. Owning the sword does not unlock the champion, and owning the champion does not guarantee every matching cosmetic. Treat them as parallel collections.
Grading explained
Grading upgrades a selected weapon using duplicate swords, Gems, and sometimes Joker cards that improve success odds. The UI shows success chance, selected weapon count, warnings, and the target grade button.
Grade A
- Needs at least one ungraded weapon as the base.
- Each additional matching weapon typically adds about 20% success and roughly 500 Gems to the cost (community-reported values — confirm in your client).
- Cap around five weapons for a near-certain A attempt.
- Successful grading yields one Grade A weapon regardless of how many inputs you fed.
Grade A+
- Needs at least one Grade A base.
- Extra A weapons add roughly 25% success and about 1,000 Gems each, up to four inputs.
- A+ blades often show stronger lobby auras and higher trade valuation.
Grade S
- Needs at least one A+ base.
- Extra A+ inputs add about 33% success and roughly 4,000 Gems each, up to three inputs.
- S grading multiplies perceived sword value dramatically and can unlock unique poses on Mythic weapons.
- Failed S attempts feel expensive — never dump your entire Gem bank into one roll without a fallback plan from Gems and Currency.
Competitive truth about swords
A Grade S Mythic looks intimidating in the lobby. It does not widen your deflect hitbox, shorten ability cooldowns, or raise ranked placement by itself. Players who chase grading before How to Deflect and How to Curve the Ball usually stall in mid ranks with shiny blades and soft fundamentals.
Use swords for:
- Collection goals and trade flex
- Matching a champion aesthetic after you main them
- Finisher or aura preference in private showcases
Do not use swords as an excuse to skip How to Win Matches or Ranked and Faceoff.
Smart spending order
- Redeem active codes — especially Crystal and Gem heavies.
- Unlock a comfort champion from Beginner Picks or the Champions Tier List.
- Farm boss packs only if you specifically want Koju, Torokai, or themed Mythics — see Boss Raids.
- Grade duplicates you already own; avoid buying bulk junk just to feed A+ attempts.
- Save a Gem buffer for seasons and battle-pass tiers covered in Season 8 Hub.
Private servers and pack practice
VIP and private servers expose admin panels for map select, ball speed, and round end — useful for testing new swords’ finishers with friends. Practice deflect timing on Pro ball speed, not only cosmetic swaps. Details live on Private Servers.
Fair play
Skin changers and pack exploit tools are permanent ban territory with no appeals. Open packs and grade through official menus only.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Death Ball questions.
Do Death Ball sword grades make me stronger in ranked?
No. Grades mainly change visuals, auras, poses, and trade value. Deflect timing and champion kits decide ranked outcomes.
What currencies does grading use?
Primarily Gems plus duplicate weapons. Joker cards can improve odds. Confirm exact costs in your client's grading panel.
Should I grade before unlocking Kameki?
Usually no. Unlock a strong main first, then grade duplicates. Codes like ASCEND and VELVET refill Gems faster than grinding alone.
Where do Fatality and Sinister pack swords come from?
Seasonal pack lines tied to updates. Open them with the pack currency shown in that event — not with exploit tools.
Can scripts change my sword skins safely?
No. Skin changers and pack exploits lead to permanent bans with no appeals. Use official cosmetics only.
